Promote Your Business Blog

No one will know unless you tell them!

No one will know unless you tell them!

So you’ve created a blog for your business.

But a blog won’t be any help to your internet marketing strategy if no one reads it, right?

That’s where blog promotion comes in!

Rule #1 — you have to actually tell people about your blog. So here are a few ideas for putting the word out there about your business’ blog.

Optimize Your Blog for Search Engines

Utilizing keywords isn’t just a strategy for your business’ main website. It’s also important for blogs. You want to give your blog the best chance to be found by search engines responding to a query; that’s the only way to get on the first page of search results.

We’ve detailed how to incorporate keywords into your blog in an earlier post.

Use Other Forms of Social Media

Social media is a great way to spread the word about your blog! It not only gives your Twitter followers and Facebook fans the heads-up about newly-posted blogs, but it gives them a chance to share your blog with their friends and followers.

It’s like a game of telephone, but with your blog as the subject.

The best way to promote your blog in a Facebook post or Tweet is to say a few words about the subject of your blog that will make prospective readers interested enough to click on the link you provide.

You should also add social media widgets to the page that make sharing your blog with friends/followers easier (we have a few on here ourselves).

Write, Write and Write Some More

You may have heard the phrase “Content is King.” But what does it really mean?

In the sense of promoting your blog, it means that the more prolific you are with your blog, the more search engines will like it.

And, again, if search engines like your blog it has a better chance of showing up on the higher end of the search engine results page. This translates into more people who will be steered toward your site through search engines.

Of course, if you really want to build an audience, you blog needs to be filled with quality content that engages your target audience and works toward building a community.

Look Offline

Don’t forget to promote your blog offline as well! Tell people about it verbally, or include it in a pamphlet.
